The American Lebanese Coordination Council (ALCC) congratulates Mr.
George Mitchell on his appointment as United States Envoy to the Middle East.
As a former Senate majority leader and chairman of a 2001 Middle East
Commission, Senator Mitchell is a highly respected and effective negotiator.
He has extensive experience and his American-Lebanese background will
bring much balance and insight to his role as the Obama administration’s
special envoy to the Middle East.
Mitchell is entrusted with a delicate and vital post in an area of the world facing
great instability and uncertainty. The ALCC wishes him much success in
serving the United States to fulfill its goals of bringing diplomacy and peace to
the Middle East region.
