The American Lebanese Coordination Council (ALCC) extends its sincere
congratulations to Illinois Congressman Ray LaHood on his confirmation as the
new United States Secretary of Transportation.
LaHood, a Republican, is the first Lebanese-American chosen to serve in
President Obama’s administration. We applaud President Obama’s decision to
appoint LaHood to a key post and for keeping his promise to include
republicans in his cabinet.
LaHood’s respected service in Congress has earned him a reputation for
bipartisanship along with an extensive network of allies from both parties. In
the transportation post, LaHood will undoubtedly serve a vital role in reaching
across party lines to fulfill what will be an ambitious public works program.
The ALCC and the Lebanese American community acknowledge and are
proud of LaHood’s accomplishments and wish him much success in his new
