Michael Aoun and the FPM never cease to amaze the public with their weaseling and
spinning of events and facts. After claiming for months and in every event to be behind the
UNSCR 1559, which is responsible along with the March 14th group for the liberation of
Lebanon from the Syrian occupation, and after taking full advantage of the wide public
support for this resolution in Lebanon, the truth finally came out in the weirdest form, which
is closer to treason more than anything else. The following press release clearly places
Aoun and his followers in the heart of March 8th camp with Hizbullah, AMAL, and all of Syria’
s lackeys who are fighting the pro-Lebanon group of March 14th. Furthermore, it is a clear
proof that the FPM i.e. Tony Haddad, Gaby Issa, and Louis Ghafari along with their followers
in the US, who claim to be behind the Syria Accountability Act of 2003, have truly opposed
and bitterly fought the passage of 1559 to the bone. Accordingly, the American Lebanese
Coordination Council denounces in the strongest terms the treacherous behavior of
General Aoun’s followers in the US and at home. We condemn the suspicious visit of the
so-called an “American-Lebanese delegation” from Michigan to Lebanon and to the State
Department for these “leaders” are sheer profiteers and proxies tied financially and
ideologically to the radical terrorist group Hizbullah and the Syrian minions in Lebanon
while acting in the name of the Lebanese-American community. It is of great important to
note that the overwhelming majority of the American-Lebanese communities are in support
of the US Administration and its pro-democracy policies in the greater Middle East region;
we are in support of the US war on terrorism; and we are in support of the UNSCR 1559,
which we demand its implementation the way the UN deem fit.

Community leaders meet with U.S., Lebanese officials
DEARBORN - A delegation of Lebanese American leaders from Michigan will be visiting Lebanon next week to meet with
officials and political and religious leaders to discuss the current situation in Lebanon.
The delegation includes Osama Siblani, President of the Arab American Political Action Committee (AAPAC) and
Publisher of The Arab American News; Attorney Abed Hammoud, Lead Prosecutor for the Wayne County Prosecutor's
Office and President of the Congress of Arab American Organizations in Michigan; Ali Jawad, Founder of the Lebanese
American Heritage Club; Ali Berry, President of the Arab American Scholarship Foundation; Antoine (Tony) Haddad, of
the Lebanese American Council for Democracy; Louis Ghafari; Dr. Moqbil Chedid and Mr. Selim Jreij.
The delegation’s schedule includes meetings with the Lebanese President General Emile Lahoud, Speaker of the
Parliament Mr. Nabih Berri, Prime Minister Fouad Siniora, Minister of Foreign Affairs Fawzi Saloukh and American
Ambassador Jeffrey Feltman, as well as other political & religious leaders.
The delegation will discuss the sentiment of the community in Michigan regarding the situation in Lebanon and the United
States' involvement in that country. The visit to Lebanon comes on the heels of a visit to Washington, DC this week by
Berri, Hammoud, Jawad and Siblani. This April 24th visit included meetings with State Department officials and the
Lebanese Ambassador in Washington. During the meetings, the Michigan delegation expressed their opposition to the
United States taking sides in Lebanon by supporting one side over another. The delegation stressed the point that in such
a small and fragile country, putting the weight of the U.S. behind one political faction affects the political balance and
creates fear of further U.S. interference in the affairs of Lebanon, which would not serve the interests of either country.
The delegation expressed concerns that U.S. pressure to implement U.N. Resolution 1559 may worsen the situation in
Lebanon. It advised the State Department to let the Lebanese address their own issues of how they wish to liberate the
remainder of their land and how they want to protect their country from Israeli aggression. The delegation reminded the
officials that past U.N. resolutions regarding Israel have not been implemented and that neither the U.S. nor the U.N.
were able to protect Lebanon from Israeli aggression.
